Description

 
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Application Developer maintains existing code and builds new programs in support of a large project or small enhancement/production ticket level of effort. The Application Developer will assist in the development of cost-effective information technology solutions by creating new/modifying existing software applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • In accordance with standards, creates technical specs and programs required to deliver those functions
  • Participates in code reviews as required to assure code is up to department standard
  • Plans/writes test scripts and executes those scripts as part of a comprehensive Systems Test
  • Updates multiple system documentation as final step in development process.  The incumbent helps to ensure other teammates can support the application in the event of turnover or job change
  • Completes emergency support tasks to bring applications back online for which the Application Developer has oversight
  • Completes small tickets to help enhance the applications over time
  • Completes a variety of project construction/testing tasks in support of major upgrades and large projects
  • Works collaboratively with others (internally and externally) to achieve common objects, goals and results.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility with all Company assets
 

Qualifications

 
EDUCATION:  (Minimum formal education the job requires)
  • BS/BA in computer science or related software engineering (desired)
  • Associate degree in computer science or related software engineering (required)
 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  (Minimum experience the job requires)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Application Developer
 RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyze high level user requirements to create development Tasks
  • Takes full responsibility for multiple applications from inception to release

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:  The Restaurant Systems Engineer works under the direction of the Restaurant Systems and Support Group Manager within the Information Technology department.  The incumbent works closely with Contract Vendors, Property and Facilities, and Operations to ensure the New Unit Installations and or Enhancements are completed on time. Maintains existing BOS/POS configuration(s) and liaison with Operations and the Contact Center to ensure the solution is running effectively in the units and production issues are addressed in accordance with SLA’s. Utilizes a solid understanding of standard client/server, networking, and Internet fundamentals.  Effectively troubleshoots and resolves most aspects of SCCM and fully understands the product flow patch management, software distribution and logging for supported applications. This position utilizes similar skills in SCCM and Active Directory Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Utilizes intermediate  level knowledge and demonstrated technical proficiency in Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and experience in managing medium to large environments
  • Creates Advertisements/Collections/Packages within an SCCM environment. Packaging development includes Wise Studio or Install Shield along with VBscript and SMS packaging.
  • Utilizes an intermediate level  knowledge in creating, configuring, deploying, and maintaining  images through SCCM
  • Identifies, researches, diagnoses production problems such as defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in systems functions, outputs, and content.
  • Ensures appropriate project documentation is available for each new build or release.
  • Ensures that appropriate quality steps and approvals are adhered to prior to software promotions
  • Smokes  test builds for accuracy and completeness prior to delivery to the QA Team
  • Performs weekly 24x7 on call support, as needed
  • Diagnoses and repairs software and or equipment issues; including Back Office Servers (BOS), Point of Sale (POS) Terminal, Kitchen Display Systems and printers.
  • Acts as liaison with vendor and internal Whataburger Contact Center to service escalated calls and perform Level 3 support tasks for the in-store solution.
  • Re-images  Back Office Servers (BOS) and Point of Sales (POS)Terminals, as needed
  • Diagnoses and resolves database issues associated with Xpient or other vendor POS/BOS software.
  • Coordinates with Whataburger staff to evaluate system capabilities and translate operational requirements into configuration changes
  • Collects all above store system information required for configuring the Back Office Server.   
  • Executes remote configuration of BOS, POS, and KDS equipment for new/conversion units and update software, menus, prices, items, etc. to current configuration in preparation for opening
  • Maintains and updates Equipment Staging, Site Installation and Enhancement guides.
  • Facilitates weekly staff meetings, as needed.
 

Qualifications

 
EDUCATION:  (Minimum formal education the job requires.)
  • Associate’s degree in computer science or business management, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • BS/BA in Business Management, computer science or related software engineering preferred
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  (Minimum experience the job requires.)
  • Minimum 5 years of restaurant industry experience working in a POS/BOS environment
  • Intermediate professional or theoretical knowledge and fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization in the execution of assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Basic understanding of budgetary concepts and procedures.
  • Intermediate understanding of departmental structure and policies with basic understanding of the cross functional structure and policies of Whataburger Restaurants LLC.
  • Basic ability to delegate tasks and get work done through others.
  • Ability to prepare and present information to guests, more senior associates, vendors and management with sufficient notice and preparation
  • May provide some analytical, evaluative or original input on specific technical or operational work activities, issues or projects.
  • Works well on, and may lead, teams, sharing responsibility for tasks or objectives.
  • Performs work with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment and discretion with occasional feedback and coaching.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and maintains project documents that include architecture diagrams and models

  • Ten plus (10+) years’ experience in business environment, preferably in restaurant industry
